New York City entrepeneur, William Tigertt, and one of the top sommeliers in the country, Josh Nadel, are the folks behind Gothic Wine in Willamette Valley. The collaboration started in 2009. They love the food friendly and balanced style of French wines, particularly Burgundy. Josh Nadel has been responsible for some of the best wine lists in New York, like at Cru, Veritas, Lafayette, Oregon vineyards, they figured, grow the kind of grapes they can make the kind of wines they love but at a much more affordable price than Burgundy. Their 2012 "Nevermore" Pinot Noir is a runaway hit for Gothic. I've never heard of this winery before they dropped off a bottle for me to try. I opened it during Thansksgiving and, voila, it was consumed right away. Very good concentration and vibrancy at the same time. The dark fruit flavors are lush and bright. It was effortless to drink and lovely with food. It's a blend of fruit from three vineyards: Monk's Gate (Yamhill-Carlton), Hyland (McMinnville), and Willakia (Eola-Amity Hills). Aged in wood (just 15% new) for 10 months with just a single racking. The 2012 harvest was the best since 2008 in Willamette Valley. This is one of the best values I've seen. They didn't make much so make sure you try this soon.

"Bright ruby. Smoky raspberry, cherry and floral pastille scents are given depth by notes of vanilla and cola. Silky and open-knit, offering pliant, lucid red fruit flavors that put on weight with air. The smoke and floral qualities repeat on the long, berry-driven finish, which is shaped by gentle, harmonious tannins." 90/100 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
