There's a love story behind this wine. Laurence Manya Krief, or YoYo, named this wine for the 31 kilometer that separates her winery from the winery of her partner, fellow vigneron, Jean-Francois Nicq. A blend of 50% Carignan and 50% Grenache from vines that are at least 100 years-old. The Grenache was brought in and vinified using carbonic maceration. While the Carignan was destemmed and slowly pressed for 3 weeks. They were blended after pressing and aged in stainless steel tanks, then to old barrels for 10 months. No sulphites or additives were added. Only 5 barrels or the equivalent of 125 cases were made. Firm, serious, complex wine with layers of dark fruits and earthy spices. Brooding and haunting this expressive wine has immediate charm.
