This is always everyone's favorite, especially once people try it. It makes you wonder why Pinot Blanc remains such an overlooked wine. Of course, Pyramid Valley's Pinot Blanc is made extraordinarily. It is from a single vineyard, the Kerner Estate Vineyard, in a cool, strong-soiled site in the Waihopai Valley. Yields are low and the wine is vinified with natural yeasts without any additives, then aged in neutral oak puncheons for almost a year until it finishes naturally. The 2011 vintage took a bit longer, with aging lasting for 16 months. The end result is an irresistibly luscious wine, with off-dry fruity flavors and layers of spice. A refreshing, vibrant wine that's easily enjoyed, but serious depth. 350 cases made.
