From a record heat wave year, Lopez de Heredia produced one of the most outstanding Vina Bosconia wines! The key was the old vines of the El Bosque Vineyard, where Bosconia wines are grown, that is able to withstand hydric stress. Thus, when the rains finally arrive in September, the vines were able to continue ripening the fruit. In fact, harvest didn't start until 24th September and lasted through 23rd October, one of the longest harvests in Lopez de Heredia's history. The Vina Bosconia is notable for its high percentage of Tempranillo of 80%, with the 20% Graziano and Mazuelo. Excellent concentration and a powerful structure should allow this great wine to age over many decades.

"The 2003 Vina Bosconia has another enticing bouquet: hints of cooked meat, hickory, peat and rosemary that is beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with firm dry tannins and a poised, lifted earthy finish with touches of soy and sea salt on the aftertaste. This deserves several more years in bottle. Drink 2018-2030+" 92/100 Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Delicate, subtle and true, with great balance and finesse." 3 Stars Eric Asimov, Rioja Reserva Tasting Panel Report, The New York Times

"This wine has evolved perfectly showing a deep ruby colour with shades of orange. Its nose is persistent, full bodied and showing a lot of mature fruit, being dominated by the Tempranillo grape. Its taste is round, smooth, fresh, full of body and persistent." R. Lopez de Heredia
