Superb Blanc de Blancs from one of the most revered grower producers in the Cote des Blancs. The Lilbert estate consists of just 3.5 hectares of all grand cru vineyards mostly in Cramant. Aged for 3 years in underground tufa cellars and disgorged by hand, this is precise and expressive of the Cote des Blancs terroir. Based on the 2009 vintage, this current release shows brilliant finesse and elegance, a really remarkable Champagne.

"While this is based on 2009, it actually contains a majority of reserve wine, with 60 percent of the blend coming from the 2008 harvest. The two vintages complement each other superbly well: the luscious, creamy notes of pear, Meyer lemon and fresh apple feel indicative of 2009, while their ample generosity is tethered and given shape by racy 2008 acidity. There are intense chalk aromas on the mid-palate that grow dark and savory, saturating the finish with minerality, and the balance of components is terrific, allowing the flavors to unfold with subtle complexity and long, delicately fragrant length." 2 Stars Peter Liem,

"(all estate fruit grown in Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry; L 12 01): Light yellow. Suave, mineral-tinged aromas of Meyer lemon, pear, white flowers and quinine, with a leesy undertone. Fleshy but dry and precise, offering vibrant citrus fruit flavors and notes of anise, honeysuckle and buttery brioche. Closes on a crackling mineral note, with excellent clarity, cut and length." 91/100 Stephen Tanzer's International Cellar

"I was very impressed with the current release of the non-vintage Blanc de Blancs from Lilbert-Fils. The deep, complex and very soil-driven bouquet jumps from the glass in a complex melange of pear, musky floral tones, iodine-like, chalky soil nuances (which will make any fan of Meursault excited!), a bit of vanilla custard and a gentle topnote redolent of lemongrass. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and beautifully transparent, with a fine core of fruit, frothy mousse, excellent focus and very good length and grip on the perfectly balanced finish. Fine juice that will be even better with another year or two of bottle age. 2012-2020+." 91+/100 John Gilman, View From the Cellar
