Thermenregion Rotgipfler, Johanneshof Reinisch 2011

Inventory Status: 9

A truly magnificent example of Rotgipfler, one of the rarest and hardest wines to grow. No more than 300 acres of Rotgipfler vineyards exist in the Thermenregion of Austria. Reinisch's organically farmed vineyards in the southfacing slopes of Gumpoldskirchen produced this delicious, rare treat. The Thermenregion's long growing season and heavy soil mix of loam and gravelly limestone create a unique climate and soil combination where the indigenous Rotgipfler vine thrives. This is stunningly delicious. Packed with flavors of exotic fruits and spices. Rich and full-bodied (13% alc.), with good minerality and excellent acidity. The structure and extract allow the wine to be long-lived, assuming one can resist drinking this luscious wine now. A most versatile wine with food, its minerality and vibrant flavors are a godsend to seafood dishes, while its rich fruit and exotic flavors are heavenly with roast pork and poultry.
