A most unique and rare Grenache wine as it is made from 100% Garnacha Peluda. This seldom seen variety of Grenache grown on a small high-elevation plot in Montsant in the Catalunya region of Spain. The 70 year-old Grenache vines produced this wine of unbelievable depth, structure, complexity, and precision. A very pure expression of  Grenache. The wine's darker flavors, with blueberry, violet notes framed by underlying tannins is Hermitage-like. Its higher acidity gives balanced precision and elegance to the powerful fruit. Amazing beauty and pleasure. Astonishing to experience Grenache reach this potential. Only 100 six-pack cases imported to US.

"The 2009 Teixar is pure Garnacha Peluda from 70-year-old vines that are aged in a combination of first, second and third year French oak for 14 months. It has a complex bouquet of beautifully defined red currant, wild strawberry, heather and lavender that blossom from the glass. The oak is very subtle, remaining quietly in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins, great harmony and focus. Dark brambly red fruits, cranberry, minerals and a touch of white pepper all vie for attention but are supremely well-defined, while the pixilated finish has firm grip and a sense of symmetry. It has great persistency in the mouth--utterly delicious and extremely complex. Drink 2014-2025." 95/100 Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
