What a gorgeous vintage for this small-production wine from Heidi Barrett! The fruit is a selection of lots mainly from Pritchard Hill, source of Napa's most sought-after Cabernets. A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc aged in no more than 30% new French oak over 18 months. Seamless and well-balanced, the dense, powerful fruit unfolds slowly, revealing its multilayered complexity. Fresh and pure in the mouth, with rich tannins that are fine and well-integrated through the solid, lengthy finish.

"The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, from a vineyard on Pritchard Hill, is a gorgeous wine layered with black plums, cherries, smoke, camphor and licorice. The 2008 is a gracious, understated Cabernet that impresses for its balance, class and harmonious finish. The wine keeps getting better in the glass, as hints of tar, smoke and licorice flow through to the dense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018." 93/100 Antonio Galloni, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Gorgeous deep ruby color with a profound nose of black cherry, currants, ripe wild blackberries, a touch of cinnamon and spice, accented lightly by sweet toasty French oak. A very pure, layered wine, silky mouthfeel with bursts of flavor that mirror the aromas. The texture and balance are beautiful with very light chewy refined tannins and overall structure that will lend itself well to additional cellaring. Absolutely yummy!" Heidi Barrett, winemaker
