Cotes du Rhone Blanc, Le Clos des Grillons 2011

Inventory Status: 2

What a richly flavored and full-bodied white Rhone from one of the hardest working winegrowers in the southern Rhone. Nicolas Renaud, who trained at La Vieille Julienne in Chateauneuf du Pape and was inspired by both Eric Pfifferling and Gramenon, is farming mostly old vines organically and also applying biodynamic methods to produce this pure, expressive wine from the region near Tavel. A blend of 70% Grenache Blanc and 30% Clairette, both from 30 year-old vines, including some Bourbolenc from 60 year-old vines. He vinifies only with indigenous yeasts and uses a minimal dose of sulphites on bottling. Bright flavors and energy of summer stone fruits and citrus characterize this delicious white Rhone. Stupendous value.
