A really complex Cornas with outstanding depth and structure. "For Cornas Empreintes, the clay-limestone area at the bottom of Chaillot, which is south facing, gives tannins that are a bit wilder than the granite-based wine from higher up," says Eric Durand. 100% Syrah from various plots, 70% planted on granite soils and 30% planted on clay/limestone soils. The Syrah vines date back to 1973. The grapes are destemmed and vinified after a 4-day cold maceration. Vinification is gradual and extended, lasting over 28 days. About 80% of the wine is aged in used 600-liter oak cases and 20% in new barrel. Spectacular value for one of top Cornas of the vintage!

"Mouthfilling, with deliciously intense anise, blackberry compote and plum pâte de fruit flavors backed by well-integrated briar and iron notes. The long, racy finish has lots of life. Best from 2013 through 2023. 1,500 cases made." 94/100 Wine Spectator

"The 2010 Cornas Empreintes reveals an opaque black/purple color, good acidity and lots of graphite, bouquet garni and black fruits, a full-bodied mouthfeel and noticeable tannin. This 'locked and loaded' 2010 needs 5-7 years of cellaring. It should keep for 12-14 years." 91-93/100 Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
