A tour de force of the appellation! Amazing concentration, power, and structure from Syrah vines planted since 1936 on terraced vineyards with granitic soils. Complex and structured, with pure Syrah flavors characteristic of Syrah of red and black fruits, spices, violets, and wood notes. Full and powerful in the mouth, the tannins are firm but well integrated. The finish is pure and long. Cuilleron vinified this with its long-term potential in mind, thus it's firm in its youth, and best to wait 4 to 5 years from vintage date before approaching. Its aging potential is easily 15 years or more. Truly a mindblowing St. Joseph!

"Bright, full robe. Reserved, slightly muscled air on the bouquet, which has layers of raspberry fruit, offers future variety, ends on smoky licorice. Sleekly fruited palate, a good sequence along it, with the potential to be shiny and pleasing. The fruit is round and smooth at the end, and actually conceals some of its thorough depth. Good poise, a well-collected wine. From late 2012. The heart from its very old Serine fruit contributes to its assured depth and elegance. 2022-24 March 2011." 4-5 Stars, John Livingstone-Learmonth, DrinkRhone

"Opaque purple. Oak-spiced aromas of cherry-cola, blueberry, violet and minerals, with an intense, smoky overtone. Sweet dark berry preserve flavors are complicated by notes of vanilla and mocha, with the floral quality repeating. Lots of sexy, sweet fruit here and it seems up to the lumber. Finishes with emphatic spicy thrust and lingering sweetness. This was raised in 70% new oak." 90-92/100 Josh Raynolds, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
