We are extremely careful in the selection and buying of our library wines and source only from reliable vendors. In almost all cases, we taste a bottle from the batch to check the quality. However, since these are aged wines, we make no guarantees. SALES OF ALL LIBRARY WINES ARE FINAL |

Pomerol, Château La Fleur-Petrus 1970
About 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The Moueix family of Petrus and Trotanoy purchased the estate in 1953 and replanted the vineyards after 1956. Though vines were relatively young in this vintage, this 1970 has been widely regarded a success.
"A serious wine. Rich, ripe, noticeable acidity in the early 1980s when I first tasted it; also inimitable Pomerol texture. On the last two occasions a touch of malt or caramel on the nose which then opened up spicily. A fairly sweet, fleshy, chunky mouthful, excellent with venison. Last tasted June 1995." 4 Stars/5 Stars Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine

Margaux, Château Palmer ("Mahler-Besse") 1978
A great, classic vintage for Palmer. The wine appears to go from strength to strength and continue to surprise Palmer fans. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 53%, Merlot 40%, Cabernet Franc 5%, and Petit Verdot 2%. This release is from the Mahler-Besse cellars and so it was perfectly stored undisturbed in its original case since release. Wines from the Mahler-Besse collection are highly sought and sell at premiums in auctions. A rare and highly collectible wine. A Mahler-Besse neck label indicates it was moved from their cellar in 2006.
"A lovely wine and a very good 1978. Many notes, seven during the course of the last decade. Seductively rich, ripe, mulberry-like fruit; full, soft and fleshy in its early days. To the extent that I thought that (in 1985) it could not possibly get any better. Apart from an odd 'drying out' note, proving a fascinating companion to '78 Sassicaia and Cheval Blanc? Most recently, sweet, attractive, quite good length and residual tannin and acidity. Otherwise a point." 4 Stars/5 Stars Michael Broadbent
"Very intense colour, although plainly showing its age. Extremely powerful, complex bouquet with camphor, menthol, pepper, cedar, leather, and gunflint overtones. Fresh and lively on the palate with average concentration. Less 'explosive' than on the nose. Although the aromatics on the bouquet carry over to the palate, they are much more toned down. Elegant tannin dominates the medium-long aftertaste." Château Palmer Notes, January 2nd 2006

Barbaresco, Gaja 1988
Gaja's winemaking team, including his father Giovanni Gaja, hailed this as the best vintage since 1985. The drought that prevailed during a good part of the growing season helped concentrate the fruit. Very youthful and still evolving.
"Very dark color. Initial wood and vegetal aromas give way to spicy black pepper and truffle after some hours in the glass. Lush plum flavors, still dominated by oak. More international style." 16/20 Kerin O'Keefe, The World of Fine Wine

Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, Dalla Valle 1995
One of Heidi Barrett's best wines while at Dalla Valle, this brilliantly concentrated, well-balanced, and meaty Cabernet continues to improve and achieve elegance as it ages. Impeccably stored since release.
"Impressively saturated ruby color. Knockout floral nose combines blackcurrant, spices and shoe polish. Lush and supple in the mouth, with extraordinarily pure fruit character, yet more tightly wrapped than the '96 due to stronger acidity. Really juicy and penetrating, though, and very long on the finish." 95(+?)/100 Stephen Tanzer"s International Wine Cellar

Spring Mountain (Napa) Cabernet Sauvignon, Philip Togni 1995
Amazingly youthful and still evolving this is one of Togni's monumental Cabernets. Impeccably stored since release.
"Philip Togni is one of California's most foresighted winemakers, holding back a small amount of wine and releasing it at age ten. This year, small quantities of the 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate were released, and, as I almost invariably do, I rated it higher than I did initially. It is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon that apparently turns to Bordeaux for elegance, structure, and complexity, yet retains Napa?s extraordinarily sweet, rich, concentrated fruit. This profound 1995 still tastes like an adolescent. For my palate, it will benefit from another 4-5 years of bottle age, and should last easily for another 20-25 years. It is unquestionably one of California?s as well as the world's greatest Cabernet Sauvignons." 96/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Napa Cabernet Sauvignon "Hillside Select", Shafer 1995
This powerful, muscular Cabernets may be the most immortal Hillside ever crafted by Shafer. Its remarkable concentration accompanied by terrific tannins make for a total blockbuster effort. Impeccably stored since release
"The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select possesses lots of fatness in the mid-palate. There is plenty of tannin in this full-bodied, rich effort. It is remarkable how the finest California Cabernets combine extraordinary power and richness with balance and elegance. A stupendous wine, it is worth a special effort to obtain. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2030." 99/100 Robert Parker

Napa Merlot, Pahlmeyer 1997
Benchmark Napa Merlot that?s dense with ripe black fruit extract, and supple enough to be very enjoyable.
"Pahlmeyer's 1997 Merlot may be the finest Merlot ever produced in California. A profound blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers gorgeous smoky, black cherry liqueur aromas mixed with melted fudge. The wine is unctuously textured, super-concentrated, low in acidity, rich, and multilayered. This is a spectacular, hedonistic effort to drink over the next 15-20 years." 96/100 Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
"Saturated ruby-red. Explosive aromas of black raspberry, cassis, graphite, tar, minerals and toffee. Lush, superripe and very deep, with almost confectionary sweetness. Thick but not heavy. Very long and lush on the aftertaste, with fine tannins buried in fruit. Compelling merlot with great sex appeal." 93/100 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Russian River Pinot Noir "Reserve Little Hill Block", J. Rochioli 1997
The Little Hill Block rises just above the West Block. The soils are limited and rocky which impart a unique quality to this wine. 2.2 acres were planted in 1985 with West Block Selection. Eight to ten barrels are produced. Delicious concentration and freshness. A great vintage for this wine.

Russian River Pinot Noir "Reserve West Block", J. Rochioli 1997
Yields are a bit higher in the West Block as compared to the Three Corner Vineyard and the East Block, but that doesn't tell the story. Joe Rochioli planted this vineyard in a great site, southwest-facing and able to trap the rays of the sun very well. Yields are less than 2 tons/acre and just 16 barrels are produced. Fleshy and well concentrated, with beautiful ripe Pinot flavors that are lushly textured.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 63% Sangiovese 20% Peite Sirah 8% Merlot 9%,, Bacio Divino 1997
The best release of this California super Tuscan.
"Lots of personality, with elegant, polished cherry, cola, wild berry and spicy notes and a long, intricate aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah and Merlot. Drink now through 2005. 1,000 cases made." 91/100 Wine Spectator Final Sale
"This intriguing as well as innovative blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 8% Petite Sirah, and 9% Merlot is again an outstanding effort. Already evolved and delicious, the dark ruby/plum color is followed by aromas of new saddle leather, black raspberries, plum liqueur, cherries, and toasty, smoky new oak. Medium to full-bodied, with sweet tannin, an open-knit, fleshy texture, and low acidity, this California "super Tuscan look-alike" can be drunk now and over the next decade." 90/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate $95.00 |

Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée A", Maison Dominique Laurent 1999
One of two or three separate cuvées of Mazis that Laurent made this year. This is the cuvée A or 1.
"Will be bottled separately from (2). Very pure, very cool and very classy. Ripe and concentrated and full and with a very fine grip. Fullish body. Very lovely. This is excellent. Very fine long finish. Splendid quality. From 2014." 20/20 Clive Coates, The Vine FINAL SALE - LIBRARY WINE $149.00 |

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Maison Dominique Laurent 1999
Charmes, usually the gentlest and most seductive of the Chambertin grands crus, is somewhat redefined by Laurent here, expressing it with an extra dimension of intensity.
"Really excellent for what it is. Almost sweet in its concentration. Very pure, very concentrated coulis de fruit. Very old viney. Full and splendidly rich. Excellent. From 2015." 20/20 Clive Coates, The Vine FINAL SALE-LIBRARY WINE $158.00 |

Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Maison Dominique Laurent 1999
One of the two grands crus of Chambolle-Musigny, this is powerful and classic Bonnes-Mares.
"Quite a powerful wine. 14 degree natural. Big, tannic, concentrated and backward. This is excellent. Dominique thinks it is the best wine of the cave (with a few others). Marvellous fruit. Excellent. From 2014." 20/20 Clive Coates, The Vine
"Saturated ruby, the darkest of Laurent '99s along with the Chambertin. Superripe, perfumed aromas of roasted blackberry, violet, mocha and smoked meat; shows no trace of this grand cru's normal herbacity. Huge but stylish wine, with great power but not a trace of heaviness. Explosive fruit takes over the entire mouth and stays awhile. Not at all oaky today, despite the 200% new oak treatment. A wine with extraordinary potential." 93-97/100 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar FINAL SALE-LIBRARY WINE $368.00 |

"Good colour. Firm, rich, backward, profound nose. Slightly austere, like their 2001 Grands Echezeaux. But lots of very classy wine here. Medium-full body. Good, ripe tannins, although by no means a blockbuster. Nice long finish. Lots of finesse. This will keep well. Bordeaux Rouge, Château Girolate 2001
This is the debut release of this one-of-a-kind Bordeaux. Less than 2,000 cases were produced. The Despagne family, together with their consulting oenologist Michel Rolland, has produced a great wine that many experts are just starting to recognize. The Grand Jury Europeen panel, composed of top international wine critics and wine producers, recently gave this wine its top rating of 5 Stars and voted it best wine of all in a comparative tasting of 2001 right bank reds. Wow!
"But if the 2001 is anything to go by they seem to have hit upon a particularly beguiling combination of exceptionally flattering texture with fruit that is both velvety and lively and can be aged for many years in bottle, red bordeaux's trump card." Jancis Robinson MW
"A product of the over-achieving Despagne family, this 100% Merlot cuvée, which was actually fermented in small barrels and made from a tiny plot of 10,000 vines per hectare (versus the normal 5,000 to 6,000) is a tour de force in winemaking. Black purple in color, with a gorgeous nose of blackberries, mocha, licorice, and berry fruit, the wine is dense, full-bodied, and incredibly long in the mouth. It has to be tasted to be believed, because no one has ever achieved something like this from such a lowly regarded terroir. It should drink well fro 10-12 years, possibly longer./This amazing effort competes with the finest wines of Bordeaux? The bottled wine is even more impressive than it was from cask." 91/100 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate $80.00 $80.00 |
